ORLAN

MesuRage du Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New-York , 1983
Performance

The starting point of this MesuRage of the Guggenheim Museum in New York was the inscription placed at the entrance of the museum, which says: "Let each man exercise the art he knows".

The point of departure for one of the final institutional MeasuRages was the inscription Frank Lloyd Wright placed over the entrance to the Guggenheim Museum in New-York : “Let each man exercise the art he knows.” In these pictures, we see ORLAN crawling along the various levels of the spiral interior, whose walls featured an exhibition titled Aspects of Postwar Painting in Europe, Acquisition Priorities. Notably visible are “mirror paintings” by Michelangelo Pistoletto.
