Luc Tuymans
Antichambre (the blue room) appears to be composed of grey and blue lines entangled on a grid, from out of which an image of a room in emphatic perspective seems to emerge. This far-reaching simplification recurs in all Luc Tuymans’ work. Acrylic paint is applied to the canvases in broad brushstrokes, layer by layer. The finishing touch remains minimal, so one gets the impression of a quick sketch.
