Dana Kavelina is an artist and filmmaker. She graduated from the Department of Graphics at the National Technical University of Ukraine (Kyiv). Dana Kavelina works with animation and video, as well as installation, painting, and graphics. Her practice focuses on military violence, personal and collective trauma and memory, which she explores through the feminist optics and gender perspective. In 2018, she received the Special Jury Prize from the Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF) and the Grand Prix of the KROK International Animated Film Festival. In 2020, her film Letter to a Turtledove was included in the program “War and Cinema” of the e-flux magazine.
